Schneider Electric promoot het ondernemerschap met de vierde editie van zijn "Vivez l'Aventure"-wedstrijd

Rueil-Malmaison (France), November 17, 2011 – Schneider Electric has rewarded the six most entrepreneurial initiatives to come out of its spin-off program Schneider Initiatives Emploi (SIE), which took place on November 16th at the Group’s headquarters in Rueil Malmaison (France). During this ceremony, Schneider Electric has also celebrated the thousandth spin supported by SIE.

Set up 3 years ago by Schneider Electric’s Sustainable Development department and the SIE association, “Vivez l’Aventure!” competition aims to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of the Group’s employees, ensure the longevity of selected projects, and federate a network of entrepreneurs, as well as maximize the benefits of SIE’s ongoing work and support for local economic development. To date, around a hundred initiatives have been entered in the competition.

The fourth edition, chaired by Cathy Kopp, member of the Supervisory Board of Schneider Electric, awarded 6 initiatives of Schneider Electric employees who have decided to set up or take over a business. The jury has assessed the projects on the basis of four criteria: the project’s development potential; the risk associated with the project; the founder’s leadership abilities and the project’s social responsibility. Olivier Thommeret was awarded the first jury prize, for his company Teci Bois et Isolation in the Eure department (France), specialized in ecological construction and insulation. The business currently employs 4 people and has achieved sales of 300.000 Euros.

“We are proud to be able to support entrepreneurs from within the Group, both in their professional career and their personal success”, said Gilles Vermot Desroches, Sustainable Development Senior Vice President, Schneider Electric. “It is fantastic for Schneider Initiatives Emploi association to welcome its thousandth initiative.”

Created in 1994, the aim of Schneider Initiatives Emploi (SIE) association is to promote its employees’ entrepreneurial spirit and give a boost to the local economy. By accompanying Didier Doucet and its craft multi service small business in the construction and renovation sector in Gaillac (81), Schneider Initiatives Emploi celebrates today its thousandth enterprise creation support project. Since its foundation, more than 80% of the enterprise creators supported by the SIE are still in business three years later. The association has also seen a rise in the number of companies created in the electricity sector, currently representing a quarter of initiatives, and this is increasing year on year.
