    Gilles Vermot Desroches, Sustainability Senior VP at Schneider Electric, comments:
    “The Planet & Society Barometer shows a performance at 9.20/10 in the 3rd quarter of 2014, above its target of 8/10 set early 2012 for a period of 3 years. This quarter, Schneider Electric has been recognized as the most sustainable company in its sector by the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index), a competitive worldwide ranking system for sustainable companies. The Group also saw its carbon rating by CDP improve to 99/100 and was honoured in the two performance and disclosure lists of the organisation on climate issues.
    Moreover, while the United Nations’ 2015-2030 sustainable development goals are at the top of our agenda, we pay particular attention to the success of our Access to energy program, through which 1,018,765 households benefited from access to energy since 2012, reaching over 2.3 million households since the program's inception in 2009. Schneider Electric thereby confirms its commitment to an affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for all”.

    In the third quarter of 2014, 13 out of 14 indicators boosted the overall Barometer score, and 8 indicators already achieved their year-end target. Highlights of this quarter:
    • The Carbon indicator continues to perform above its goal, with 15.4% CO2 savings in freight; however, this indicator has been slightly down in the recent months, due to the use of air-shipping rather than shipping by sea;
    • The Products & Solutions indicator gained more than 2 points this quarter, as 73.2% of our product revenue were generated by our Green Premium eco-brand;
      Among other criteria, these products are compliant with the European regulations REACH and RoHS, regardless of their place of production or sale; The result of the indicator in Q3 2014 takes into account the REACH list of hazardous substances issued in December 2013; The target of 75% by the end of 2014 must incorporate new substances in the list published in June 2014;
    • The Energy indicator continues to exceed its target, showing 12.8% energy savings in Schneider Electric sites; In 2014, over 90% of the energy consumption reported by the Group is covered by this program;
    • The Access to energy indicator surpassed its goal with over one million households benefitting from Schneider Electric solutions for access to energy; The growth in Q3 2014 is mainly due to the sales of the new portable lamp “Mobiya TS120S” launched earlier this year; Activities in Asia (especially in India and Bangladesh) also contributed to the results this quarter;
    • The Best practice indicator displays 290 Schneider Electric sites recognized as "Cool Sites" encompassing more than 95,000 employees in 54 countries; The aim of this program is to make workplaces attractive, inspiring and energizing; The Group’s satisfaction and engagement surveys show higher scores within these sites;
    • The Communities indicator continues to grow beyond the 300 missions of international volunteering targeted by the Planet & Society Barometer; 338 missions have been carried out by Schneider Electric employees since 2012, with a particularly significant participation in India and in China.

    A dynamic and recognized commitment

    • For the second year, Schneider Electric has been recognized as the « Industry Leader » of the Electric Components and Equipment sector by the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index), a highly-selective global recognition of best-in-class in terms of sustainability. This award reinforces the Group’s values and non-financial commitments.
    • Schneider Electric has been listed among the best performing companies in terms of combating climate change by CDP, a non-profit environmental rating organisation for institutional investors. With a score of 99/100 on disclosure criteria and an A level in carbon performance, Schneider Electric’s result confirms the Group's strategic approach in the fight against climate change and its impacts. Schneider Electric is one of 187 companies worldwide (out of 2,000 rated companies) included in the Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014 and one of just 24 French companies included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index 2014.
    • For the 14th year, the annual mobilization campaign to support disadvantaged communities was organised and conducted by the Schneider Electric Foundation. Renamed as Communities Days this year, the event enabled the Foundation to highlight its actions and raise funds for local organisations in 46 countries.
      This campaign followed the Global Environment Day organised on June 5, 2014 at Schneider Electric sites in all countries where the Group is present.
      On International Anti-Corruption Day and Human Rights Day, respectively December 9 and 10, Schneider Electric will organise awareness and discussion events on these topics, reinforcing the commitment of the organisation and its employees to defend and promote the principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
